Surgery
The department for visceral, vascular, and accident surgery is particularly involved with benign and malignanttumours of the Oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, small intestine, and colon. There is a large amount of experience in the area of operational treatment of thyroid and parathyroid diseases. Many procedures are relatively painless with a minimum of invasiveness:
• Gall bladdei: appendix, spieen, and portions of the small and large intestines
• Hernias, smaller thyroid cysts, reflux-oesophagitis, and growths.
Diseases of the veins and arteries are operated on under anaesthetic with a minimal level of intrusion. Intravasal laser therapy is also used. Circulatory problems with the legs are treated by inserting prosthetic veins or perform-ing bypasses. Expansion of the abdominal artery is a minimally invasive procedure, achieved by inserting Stents. In the case of circulatory problems caused by diabetes, bypasses reaching all the way to the foot can be inserted. In the case of stroke patients or patients experiencing circulatory problems in the brain due to constriction of the arteries, the arteries are cleaned and expanded.
